The English department was delighted to welcome writer Nuala O’Connor this week to speak to some of our Year 12 students.

Her most recent book is ‘Nora’, a fictional/biographical story of James Joyce’s wife Nora Barnacle, giving voice and life to someone normally eclipsed by her husband. The book has been chosen for One Book One Dublin this year, a fact made more special as 2022 is the centenary of Joyce’s ‘Ulysses’. Students listened and asked questions as Nuala discussed why she had chosen to write her book and how she carried out her work, giving a brilliant and engaging lecture. Many thanks to Paula Farquharson of the Princess Grace Irish Library for offering us such a wonderful opportunity.
