Students and staff volunteer for ‘Beach Clean- up’
ISM students from the Sustainability/Philanthropy Clubs, staff and parents willingly gave up a Sunday in January to «Operation Beach Clean-up » in Menton.
The team collected many large bags of garbage from a beach that appeared relatively clean but was inundated with styrofoam, plastic, paper and rusting metal. They found the experience very satisfying and were much encouraged by local citizens thanking them for their efforts. Special thanks to Ms Pugh and Mrs Da Costa Li for organizing the event and to Mr Lloyd and Ms Gettel for supporting the students. This type of volunteering helps our students develop a concern for the environment, adds to the personal satisfaction that comes from giving, and enhances our positive standing in the community.
Another “Beach Clean-up” is planned for the spring – all volunteers welcome!
