NASA Conference November 2016
A group of Secondary school students attended a conference led by Dr Ellen Stofan, Chief Scientist at NASA.
Hannah Maclean, ISM student in class 12, succeeded at asking a question to the NASA Chief Scientist, and remembers:
“At the NASA conference, which occurred just after the US presidential election, I was curious about the changes the election of Trump would cause. When they asked for questions from the audience, I therefore decided to ask them first-hand about it. I was told that budget cuts may in fact be pushed upon them, but with help from the Russian government NASA would probably still be able to keep on schedule with all their current plans. My question was answered clearly, but I found that the lady answering was also skilfully avoiding saying anything that might be taken to offence, by an audience member, or by Mr Trump himself.”
