International Speech Contest
We were delighted to host the ninth international schools’ speech contest at ISM this year. Ten young Middle School students competed internally before being selected to represent their schools: two contestants each (plus a reserve) from ISM, ISN, Mougins School, and the five schools under the umbrella of CIV: Aseica CoIV, Aseica Collège César, Aseica Eganaude and Aseica Niki de St Phalle.
All students had to give a strictly timed three minute speech on ‘What’s your Passion’, before the jury adjourned to select the final five who then had to deliver a second speech on ‘What event in your life has defined you/who you are?’.
Warmest congratulations go to the winner, Lena Jacquin of Aseica CoIC, the runner-up, ISM’s own Shantelle Subkhanberdina, and in third place, Maria Kluchnikova flying the flag for ISN. Musical interludes were provided by Alexey Dimitriadis of CIV with a Rachmaninoff piano recital, and ISM Voices, led by Colette Marx-Nielsen, with a joyful medley of Christmas songs.
Our thanks go to Mrs Helen Whelan for co-organizing this event, to our excellent and impartial judges : Ms Alicia Sedgwick, Ms Maggie Evans, Ms Christine Darsigny and Mr Justin Fuller; to the PTA for providing delicious refreshments , to ISM VOICES, and to Ed Wright for the photography.
