Welcome to the International School of Monaco and our superbly located campus within the dramatic setting of the Port Hercule.
Whether you are moving to Monaco for the first time, or already living and working in the region, we know that finding the right school for your child is of paramount importance. I hope this website will give you a flavour of our community and the breadth of opportunities on offer for your son or daughter.
Our school has come a very long way indeed, since we opened our doors in 1994 and this year in 2019, we celebrate our 25th birthday. Today, the International School of Monaco offers education to over 650 students from 55 countries, aged from 3 to 18. We offer them a fully accredited international bilingual education in excellent facilities and a caring environment.
The wider community of Monaco and the surrounding countryside give us further educational possibilities, from skiing to sailing and art galleries to theatres. To exploit this, we have a teaching staff who are passionate about helping young people to learn and develop as individuals with an international outlook.
ISM emphasizes academic achievement as well as extra-curricular activities such as sport, drama, music, dance, debating and outdoor adventure. We want our students to find the subjects and pursuits they love and to be ambitious and brave as they explore and master them.
Following our bilingual approach in the early stages of primary education, the medium of instruction reverts to English from the age of 11. Students in our school are prepared for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. This is a challenging programme, designed to give our students the best chance of winning places at top, global universities, studying the courses of their choice.
As you look through this website we hope you will find answers to most of your questions and that, above all, you will be encouraged to come and visit our school to see for yourselves and to meet our staff and students. If you have questions about any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to contact us. This website is regularly updated so be sure to check in from time to time to read the latest news and download a copy of our most recent Gazette.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Stuart Burns MA (Cantab)
Director of ISM
