The Subject Areas / Class 7

English
All students follow our English programme which includes a Novel Study, Shakespeare, Grammar and Vocabulary units, Poetry and Creative Writing. In addition, all students have one period of library a week, taking place during English class.

Maths
There are three groupings for Maths in class 7; core, intermediate and extension. These groups follow the same core curriculum with intermediate and extension groups extending their abilities through investigation material. The groups are set at the beginning of the academic year.

French
There are three French groups in class 7; beginners, intermediate and advanced. These groups are set at the beginning of the academic year. All classes incorporate listening, speaking, writing and reading skills.

Language Support
Extra support lessons are offered in English, three times a week, for those students that need additional support in our first language. These lessons happen when other students study their third language.

Mother Tongue Support
Mother Tongue support is provided twice a week in German, Italian and Russian

Spanish
As our third official language, Spanish is offered to those students whom we feel meet our expectations in English and French, and can therefore meet the demands of studying a third or fourth language.

Social Studies
This subject incorporates Geography and History. Students study the following historical topics; The Rise of Ancient Rome, The Fall of Ancient Rome, The Aztecs, The History of Monaco. Geography includes Making and Mapping Connections, Settlements, Rivers and Earthquakes. The Social Studies curriculum is a large part of our Field Trip focus.

Science
All students study the three Sciences through the class 7 programme; Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

Arts
All students study Art, Drama and Music one period a week

Physical Education
This is an integral part of our Middle School curriculum, and an outline of the trimester's activities will be issued at the beginning of the year.
