Action

In the PYP it is believed that education must extend beyond the intellectual to include not only socially responsible attitudes but also thoughtful and appropriate action. It is expected that successful inquiry will lead responsible action, initiated by the student as a result of the learning process. This can involve service both in and outside of the school but effective action does not need to be grandiose. It can be at the most immediate level within the self, the family, the classroom and the playground. Effective action can be a demonstration of responsibility and respect for self, others and the environment. It should be voluntary and involve he students exercising their own initiative although it may require adult support in order to facilitate students' efforts.
