School Council

In September 2003, a School Council was formed to provide a key link between the Board of Trustees, the PTA and School Administration. This Council comprises the Director, Deputy Director and up to six parents. Much of the work is done through committees which are closely linked to the educational programmes, such as Creative Arts, Health and Safety Information Technology, Library and Sports.

These Committees provide a "think tank" to generate, develop and channel new ideas which will promote the continued development of key elements of the educational programme.

Committees under School Council

Sports Creative Arts
Library and Media Health and Safety

Composition of Committees : Each committee will comprise three to four parents and two to three staff members. As these committees already exist within the school, it is expected that the persons already working on a committee, will continue. Other interested parents and/or staff will be added if necessary. No parent will work on more than one committee.

Objective : The Committees will provide a “think tank” to generate, develop and channel new ideas which will promote the continued development of key elements of the educational programme.

Organisation :
- Each committee will be chaired by a Council Member
- Each Committee will meet approximately once a month during term time
- Minutes of each meeting must be kept and sent to Director after each meeting
- The Chair of each Committee will give a brief report to the Council when it meets
- After each Committee’s first meeting, the Chair of the Committee will put together a written proposal to the Council outlining ideas, initiatives and plans for the year ahead. The School’s Development Plan should be used as a resource
